Parent & Me (2.5-4 Year Old Class)

A playful, shared experience where caregivers participate alongside their child. Each class flows in three gentle segments: 10–15 minutes of open exploration — kids move freely with balls, goals, cones, and new friends.

10–15 minutes of child + caregiver activity — learning and laughing together. 10–15 minutes of guided group play — simple, facilitated games that bring everyone together. It’s less about drills and more about connection. Children make friends. Parents make friends. We share daily life together — with a soccer ball as the backdrop.

This is where soccer starts to feel real. Each session includes 15–20 minutes of engaging movement and ball work designed to improve coordination, balance, and foundational technical skills. Through guided activities, players are also developing decision-making, focus, and emotional awareness — all within age-appropriate play. Every class finishes with a real game environment so players can explore, apply, and experience soccer the way it’s meant to be played. We don’t rush outcomes. We create environments where intrinsic learning and attention naturally emerge through purposeful play.

K-1st Class

The game continues — and so does the progression. In this age group, the activities evolve and the language becomes more intentional. Players are introduced to clearer concepts and more purposeful challenges, while still learning through movement and play. We continue building coordination and technical skill, but now verbal cues are used more consistently to help players connect actions to understanding. The game remains the primary teacher — guiding decision-making, awareness, and emotional growth in real time. Every session includes meaningful game play where players apply what they are learning in an environment designed for growth. We don’t rush performance. We build formation — allowing the game itself to shape confident, thinking players.

7-12 Year Old Class

This is where formation deepens.

At this stage, Biomechanics becomes a major focus. We intentionally develop running mechanics, coordination patterns, balance, agility, and body control — because how a player moves determines how they play.

Technical ability expands alongside it. Ball mastery, striking, receiving, and decision-making are trained within dynamic environments that demand awareness and adaptability. Players are challenged cognitively and emotionally through game-based situations that require problem-solving, communication, and self-regulation. The game is no longer just exposure — it becomes a laboratory for growth. Small-sided games remain central. More touches. More decisions. More involvement. The game continues to teach — but now players are better equipped to understand what it’s teaching. Our foundation remains unchanged: Play – Fun – Learn.

We are not chasing early performance. We are building complete players — technically capable, physically efficient, cognitively aware, and emotionally grounded.

For over 20 years, we’ve been helping families in Berkeley and nearby areas introduce their kids to the beautiful game through our proven five-pillar approach: Biomechanics, Technical, Cognitive, Soccer IQ, and Emotional Intelligence.

Is this a league program?

J4kicks offers soccer classes and camps where kids come to learn, have fun, and play soccer weekly. Our motto is 'Play, Fun, Learn.' We do offer our 5v5 program in Vacaville that consists of a training day + match day.

What are the gear requirments for the classes?

Gear is as simple as the sport! We recommend shin guards and soccer cleats, but you’re welcome to start with whatever your child already has. Just make sure they wear comfortable, active clothing and shoes suitable for running and movement.

Please avoid softball, baseball, or football cleats — those are designed for different sports and can actually slow down your child’s soccer development.

What happens if it rains?

We have gaps in between our seasonal sessions in case we need to cancel due to weather. We simply extend the class to makeup any canceled classes. The cities parks dept. will make the call to close fields. You should have joined your cities BAND group to get instant notifications!

I registerd for a class but not part of the BAND group yet. How do I get in the group?

We use BAND to communicate with you all things Just4kicks and programs. Click on the BAND group to join below (we recommend you join with your smart phone)
